March ditties

Dianna Barret's talk- "For what it's worth" was very thought provoking and informative. It was a different perspective from one of our bursary students.

The Saturday stitch group is Beavering away.  Member are unsurfacing many hidden talents through their skilful mentor.

I cannot wait to see the all the works on the Blow your own trumpet table. 

The small quilt challenge by Jean Greaves has begun - even more to Blow our trumpets about.

  

The workshop with Serene Partridge is open - Saturday May 18th

"Miniature gloves" (follow up to Serena's small shoes -requested by members )

Don't be put off by the size. Serena will be at hand to offer various patterns to meet all needs.

Cathy’s talk for our February Meeting was entertaining and packed full of fascinating information on cyanotype printing, Shackleton’s ill-fated Antarctic Expedition of 1914-16, and Frank Hurley’s amazing photographs of the ships and the men.

Baltimore Quilt Raffle Draw

December 1st 2012.
Jean Graves drew the winning ticket in our 2012 Raffle for the Baltimore Quilt. It was successful beyond our wildest expectations and raised over £2,600 for the Bursary fund. 

 The winner Cindy Rochester of Market Harborough is delighted. She bought her ticket at the NEC Birmingham Festival of Quilts in August. Her prize is on its way to her.

 A great time was had by branch members on Saturday. We took part in Christmas workshops and enjoyed Liz Lumb's delicious "Partridge in a Pear Tree" cake.

November Catch Up

Hi everyone, I thought I would say how brilliant Kaffe Fassett was last month - his lecture was interesting,witty and very entertaining.

He had loads of great slides of his very colourful work. It was all quite inspiring.

Brandon was really good at his job too.

I thought the whole day went really well,it was well organised and very well supported.
